★★★½☆ (This is a review of the audiobook.) When the opportunity to do this one as a “buddy read” came up, I thought I’d give it another shot. Especially since I was in a better frame of mind than last time. I also want to pick this series back up and thought I’d “refresh” my memory. So I did a “re-read via audio.” Hillary Huber does alright on this one, but nothing spectacular. She has a wonderful voice, an excellent tone, and does a nice job on the international accents; howeve ...more

The Midnight Breed has a lot of characteristics similar to the stories of the BDB (JR Ward), the Nightwalkers (Jacquelyn Frank), the Dark Carpathians (Christine Feehan) and others, I'm sure. But, there were enough differences that kept the story interesting for me. This band of brothers (due to a "genetic failure, Breed offspring are solely male") are descendants of the "Ancients", "one of eight alien warriors who came from a distant, dark planet only to crash-land thousands of years ago on unfo

Kiss of Midnight was an easy enjoyable read however there seem to be quite a few series that run along the same 'warrior that finds, fights for and finally is bonded to his mate' theme. It reminded me of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Darkhunter series and J.R. Ward's BlackDagger Brotherhhood series. I really liked this book. It started out a little slow, but as soon as Lucan showed up it took off towards the awesome book galaxy. I did find myself wanting to scream at Lucan for being such a hard-headed male, but that would have been like screaming at water for being wet, fruitless. It all worked out in the end. Although, I thought it was going to end in a different, more infuriating way. I'm so glad she didn't. Altogether a great, great book. I can't wait to get to the rest of the series, bu

This series is fantastic! I read this book in less then 7 hours because I couldn't stop!
Lucan, one of the few remaining Gen One vampires, protector of the Breed. Hot, hot, hot!
I can't give anything away, just have to say MUST READ. These books are expertly written, compelling storyline, HOT sex scenes and they flow seemlessly.
