What Members Thought

This book was so much fun and quite effortless to read. It started with a nice little bang, and kept up the pace from there. Loved the two main characters Lucan and Gabrielle, both of whom were just as interesting when solo-onstage as together. This book also sets up some juicy seeds that are intended to bloom throughout the next several books; the small glimpses given of the other Breed warriors was enough to make one actually look forward to finding out more about them. The Midnight Breed has a lot of characteristics similar to the stories of the BDB (JR Ward), the Nightwalkers (Jacquelyn Frank), the Dark Carpathians (Christine Feehan) and others, I'm sure. But, there were enough differences that kept the story interesting for me. This was a good book but it was so much like Black Dagger Brotherhood series that I can't really give it more than 3. I really liked the characters but I didn't get a emotionally invested as I do in the BDB books. I will continue with the series though because like I said I enjoy the characters and want to see where they end up.

I can see where the comparisons to the Black Dagger Brotherhood come in. It does have a similar feel, but it's definitely got it's own vibe. I love the explanation for where vampires came from. Seriously looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I found the take on vampires as an original concept, and I approve. I also appreciate that Adrian keeps most of her attention on the overall plot, and not the smut factor. It seems that factor is only an add-on for the series. ...more
