It was a bit confusing at first keeping all the species straight. I had to re-read a few pages trying to be sure who they were talking about. The glossary at the end of the book would have been better placed at the front.
Perhaps since this is a second book they expected you to have read the first one and didn't think things might not make sense.

I did not like the beginning of this book. (view spoiler) But after I got past my original reservations of the first few chapters it started to intrigue me. By the end I was enjoying it and will say that I will probably read more of the series.

Interesting world and characters, but I found it hard to get emotionally invested in it. I am willing to continue on to the next book in the series and see how things develop.
