Apparently this series is all about the women being bullied into submission by the "hero" of the story. The first one is apparently a little "rapey" in that the sex scene starts off forced and then the woman eventually submits. But in this book the hero actually rapes someone and a popular reviewer/friend says the heroine doesn't have any ill effects or even a problem with it really. Re-read in Audio 10/21/20 **4 stars**: I don't know if I've mellowed with age or if Robert Petkoff's narration has made me see the characters in a new light or if I've realized how difficult is to find a series that truly entertains me, but lots of things that used to bother me about this book in prior reads didn't bother me as much. Exactly what I was looking for! Fluffy, with paranormals and blood and mates and all that stuff. Add to that a complex world and interesting characters and you got a very fun read!
