I really wanted to like this book, as the idea was interesting and could have been a great story. But the author seemed to be just throwing all the usual tropes and cliches into one book to see what worked. Secret crush suddenly in love with the heroine--check. Sassy best friend who provides comic relief--check. Distracted mother who lets her daughter wander into danger without a problem--check. Interesting take on the Grimm fairy tale curse. The concept was pretty compelling, but the result was a bit all over the place.
Mina was a bit difficult to root for. She let her pride and prejudices get in the way of good judgement many times over. (view spoiler)

This is a nice take on the Grimm stories. I am definitely going to continue reading this series.
