Oh golly, I ADORED this book. So, so much. There wasn't a single thing about this book I'd have wished to be different. The characters were splendid. I haven't laughed this hard or this often while listening to a book in a long time. The observations and world view of Jalan was priceless.

My single favorite part in this book, heck, maybe ever in a fantasy book, was in Chapter 22...

The mannequin 'army' and the extinct 'train' monsters...wow. So fucking hilarious.

What an awesome book! It was dark and gritty and hilarious. Prince Jalan is the type of antihero that makes all the other antiheroes look like altar boys. He is a charming coward who will lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, or screw his way out of any situation. He doesn't care what happens to anyone else unless their fate directly affects him. I loved him.
