This took me months to read. I used to inhale these books, but now I'm just not so sure anymore. J.R. Ward spoiled the whole book for me with her blog post on the day it came out, and I'm so glad I waited two weeks for the price to drop before buying because I would have been really annoyed had I paid top dollar for this. Ward now strikes me as a bit of a flake, and I no longer have much faith in where she's taking these characters we all love.

I won't star this until I've finished the review, if I even do a proper one, as this was the first major disappointment out of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series for me. A great ending doesn't make up for months worth of drudging through a tediously, long story-line that I didn't like. Nonetheless, I will read the next book, because I'm hoping this one was just an anomaly in a great series. ...more

What an emotional roller coaster. I wanted to give it 5 stars but some things still aren't moving along. X Cor & the BDB, Assail & BDB, are still slowly dragging. I did enjoy Trez & iAm, & having so many characters in the book. Nice having Wrath, V, Rhage, Z, & Tohr in this book. So much happened, & it feels like some things are being set up.

I really liked the issues with XCor & Layla coming to a boiling point, & Fritz being Fritz (loyal, fierce, proper, & always knowing what to do). I like the ...more
