Another Kindle freebie.
Modern Sorcery was an entertaining read. The world Gary Jonas created isn't complex. It didn't need to be. Though, there were a couple interesting surprises along the way. The characters are what captured my attention in this story. Despite having no personal magic-working abilities, Jonathan isn't quite mundane either. He sees ghosts and is immune to magic. He works with Esther, a ghost with an interesting flapperesque vocabulary, and Kelly, a warrior who quickl ...more
