A nice mix of snark and sentiment
I loved the relationship between Caleb and Jena. It wasn't rushed and the love built cautiously. The supporting cast was just that, supporting and strong. There were no TSTL moments. There is a great banter between the main characters, and genuine sentiment. I really like Hunters' take on this shifter town and it's governing council. There is a nice mix of lore and mysticism. You know you are reading a great book when you are actually disappointed that someone dying is going to take away from just learning about the characters. And when it was over, I wanted to read more about this family.
The town was fascinating with how it came about and how it still functions with the Seven Families. I really enjoyed Jena and her two sons, in fact Aaron was my favorite character (what a cute kid). Watching Caleb try and figure out how the town is different and why people are lying ...more
