Really enjoyed the 1st one of this series
and this one picked up straight after it.
However, if you've read any Riley Jensen you'll quickly recognise Melbourne, the badass h, battling supernatural creatures (usually vamps, but some monsters as well) under the human radar, the many love interests and the sex.
Despite the fact the h, Emberly Parson, is a phoenix, it really felt just same old, same old. Which is a shame cause we don't get many phoenix stories.

I loved this second book in the series. I could not find one thing I did not like. It is going to be really hard waiting until June of 2016 for the next book!
