Kresley Cole is the queen of manipulating my emotions. It’s really for the best that we don’t date. Endless Knight wrapped me around its little finger and I fell to its every whim. And I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

This second book in Cole’s young adult Arcana Chronicles series picks up immediately where Poison Princess ended. Jack now knows what Evie is, and she’s just truly come into her powers. She can be lethal and they both need to come to terms with that.

This second book in Cole’s young adult Arcana Chronicles series picks up immediately where Poison Princess ended. Jack now knows what Evie is, and she’s just truly come into her powers. She can be lethal and they both need to come to terms with that.

The emotional journey of Endless Knight begins with Evie accepting her role as the Empress, but fighting her instincts to lure and kill in the name of the game. Sometimes she succeeds, other times she doesn’t. She learns more about the past Empresses and has to wonder how much of that is in her. She feels callous and ruthless and vicious and wants to give into it, but her love for Jack keeps her grounded.

For his part, Jack is incredibly frustrating and so perfect. He’s conflicted, but his love is always clear. When he manages to say the right things, you want to climb inside the book for the chance to steal a kiss from that Cajun. It’s even better when things get fiery with him and Evie. The sensuality here is everything we expect from the romance genre master with language appropriate for a young adult novel.

But Cole does more than give a point-A-to-point-B love story. There are other characters in the mix. Betrayals. Unlikely saviors. Secrets that absolutely gut you. The romance here isn’t a straight line, and before you know it you’ll find yourself falling for characters you once hated and questioning the motivations of your favorites. Then back again.

Endless Knight is a game-changer. Your favorite couple(s) will change throughout the book. Maybe it’ll be the same by the end, maybe not. By the end every character has changed, grown and it’s absolutely stunning.

The rapid-paced plot made it one I couldn’t put down and the romantic ups and downs tied my stomach in knots in all the right ways. It goes from poignant to hot to sad to hot to beautiful to hot to a little confused, but still hot.
