Wow!!! At first after reading the back cover blurb I was afraid it was only going to be Mercy in Europe and I would miss out on the pack fun. But the book is told from alternating Mercy and Adam's POV.

The story was amazing and the danger of the vampires in Europe very high. Poor Mercy manages to get herself into so much trouble, but also usually manages to get herself out of it as well. Silence Fallen is another solid book from Briggs. I adore the world Briggs has created to play in. Each book brings something new. This time Mercy and some of the pack head to Europe...not for a vacation! We get details about the werewolves and vampires of those regions and how they are connected to Bran and the vampire, Marsilia. No fae action in this one, but plenty of ghosts. Mercy is forced to explore her powers involving ghosts. I also loved seeing more of the goblin Larry and his dry humor ...more

This series is one of my favorites and I loved this book. Mercy is on her own in a strange country, separated from Adam and the pack. Throw in the boogeyman of the Vampire world, a werewolf Alpha with a grudge against Bran, ghosts human & other, and a little wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey narrative and you end up with an excellent story. I died first, so I made cookies.

Pirate Night at the Hauptman house finds Mercy out of the game and baking cookies. A quick trip to the convenience store is in order when she discovers that she needs more eggs to complete the recipe. What should be a simple errand becomes a violent accident and the kidnapping of Mercy. She awakens in Milan battered, bruised and unable to link with Adam through their mate bond.

The first part of this book started a little more slowly than normal. Usually I dive rig I died first, so I made cookies.

The first part of this book started a little more slowly than normal. Usually I dive right in and get invested in the story. The longer I read, the more I realized that it was me and not the book. The wow factor came crashing in when Mercy escapes from the vampire who kidnapped her. He is Iacopo (Jacob) Bonarata, the Master of Milan and the former lover of Marsilia. He has been told by Wulfe that Mercy is the most powerful creature in the Columbia Basin.

Mercy leaves Milan and ends up in Prague. She is left to her own devices to survive. The resident alpha, Libor, has a past with Bran which may not be to her advantage. The pack reluctantly offers help only to be pulled into a huge mess between the two local seethes.

Adam's unfailing love and need for Mercy is so very evident in this book. He chooses a powerful group of allies to travel with him to Milan. Each person has a skill set that he will need to rescue Mercy.

I loved the European setting for the book. Everything dripped with history and the more I read the more I wanted to research some of the information. (Yes, I'm a bit of a geek) I would love to see this as a film although I generally hate seeing what happens to a good book when it is adapted to the screen. I had such vivid images in my mind as I read. Little things like the matching outfits in Milan, the sweet mastiff that accepts Mercy and the bakery in Prague.

The action is fabulous with some great clashes between very powerful beings. Again, I could really see some of those on the big screen.

Taking Mercy, Adam and the other power players out of Columbia Basin was a wild and wonderful ride. Who knew that the goblin king was named Larry? So much background was revealed. So much history was detailed. Now I need to re-read some of the parts that I basically skimmed in the beginning because I couldn't get my head in the book. Now I can't get the book out of my head.

I love this series and highly recommend it!

4.5*s. The beginning was a little slow for me but once it picked up it was a great ending. I love these books for the character interactions so Mercy on her own wasn't doing it for me. I loved out the theme of it seemed to be about how powerful the people you underestimate sometimes are. Physically Mercy isn't a match for any of her enemies, but somehow comes out on top. I loved how gleeful some of the team Adam puts together are at Mercy wrecking someone else's plans for a change. There's anoth ...more
