Just as good the second time around, but I still feel like I didn't get enough of Mercy and Adam together.
The series continues with an Alpha and Omega book, Burn Bright.

Mercy's life is never boring and this time she gets kidnapped by one of the most powerful vampires in the world and taken to Europe. Alone and far from her pack, she has to find a way to stay out of her enemies clutches and find a way to get home.

I have to say that I have only stayed with this series out of respect for Ms. Briggs writing skills, paranormal romance is so not my thing anymore. I don't need to read about sex or relationships, I want the magic and magic world to be #1 in a story. In addition, it seems like so many paranormal writers go down the same old vampire (or god forbid dhampir(ugh)) werewolf, demon witch route, that you wouldn't even notice if they took out the 'paranormal'.
With that said, I really enjoyed this story. ...more

Fantastic. Informative. Tense. Completely different from other Mercy books in sooo many ways -- and yet it had all the snark and chaos that have become the hallmarks of this series.
The split storytelling was particularly effective. Briggs has used this before, in another situation where understanding Adam and Mercy's separate experiences was vital to the plot. In both instances, we also gain greater knowledge of Adam as an individual. He's rather fascinating, and although we already know he's n ...more

I loved the shifting perspectives in this book - I was worried that there wouldn't be enough Adam, but that solved that concern.

I received an ARC of this novel with thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group, in exchange for a honest and voluntary review.
This book is in both Mercy's POV and Adams POV.
Ok first of all the timeline in this book is a bit screwy. The author/ mercys notes in the book state where it sits on the timeline. .... this is awesome and so helpful.
So you kind of have a Mercy timeline and an Adam Timeline. Its like reading two books at once. Which was very unique in comparison to the other books ...more

I kind of fell back in love with Mercy in this one. She spends nearly the entire book on the run, fighting for her life and freedom. She has to navigate foreign countries and hostile groups of supernaturals. Everything is politically complex and nothing is conducive to her penchant for chaos and trouble.
I loved seeing Mercy making tough calls and battling through tricky situations without the pack. We got new insights into her nature and the true force of her powers. We also learn some pretty i ...more

Loved it! The dual POV worked well, I love Adam again. And the twist at the end! I might have to reread some parts to see if there were any clues.
