This series has my favorite female urban fantasy character. Diana Rowland does a great job developing Angel's character.

Angel Crawford has really come into her own in this book. I love how her character is maturing through each book. A lot of urban fantasy (a lot of fiction, actually) has a character who doesn't move much beyond the starting point, psychologically. But Angel is tired of being called a loser. She doesn't want to live in a house with a driveway paved in beer cans. She can't get hi

To be honest, I wasn't in love with the plot line this time around. I was never so invested in the story that I couldn't put it down, but the last third or so of the book was more exciting and helped make up for a lackluster first half.

A few things I love:

"sometimes forgiveness is overrated". Let's just say Angel has some fun with a not nice person. Revenge can be so satisfying ;)

Angel is not stupid about her relationship with Marcus. She recognizes the issues and doesn't ignore them. Amazing w

This was another great story, starting only a couple of weeks after the events of the first book. Angel is getting her life on track, her confidence and self-worth are growing and she starts to plan her future. But of course life doesn't stop in order to make it easy for her, and soon she finds herself involved in a handful of not so nice situations involving a murder in a science lab, finding out that Marcus may be involved with the Zombie Mafia and her felony record is also catching up with he ...more

Update for 2018 reread: I finished this one on the reread which is more than I can say for my first attempt four years ago. Having finished the book now I can say that it was ok. Not great, but ok. I think Rowland tried to introduce too much conflict in this book. Rather than gradually discover areas of conflict we get zombie factions, zombie soldiers, secret experiments, zombie mafia, etc...all dumped on us within 100 pages. I wanted to finish it so I could try to move on in the series...with t ...more

Let's just start with I WANT THE NEXT ONE GIMME GIMME!

You know the feeling when you read something amazing and want more but alas the next installment doesn't come out any time soon? Yeah this was one of those reads for me. That's why I like reading my series when they are all finished. I don't have to agonizing months and then forget why I liked the previous book in the first place. Probably noticed not a fan of re-reading my already read shelf unless it's a cupcake book.

So all things aside sp

I really wanted to give this book four stars. Started out too similar to the first book. I found myself a lot bored. Second half made up for the repetition & story kicked into overdrive. Much better than the first.
