Really good world-building where humans are down the totem pole and high bloods think they are at the top. The Sentinels, warriors or guardians, trained by Tibetan Monks are the police force of the High Bloods. Warriors do what warriors do and guardians, the bodyguards, are immune to magic due to their major covering of magical tattoos.

High bloods are really just mutated humans or supernatural creatures like witches, but have some impressive powers. They are supposed to do things for the good of

I really like the world Alexandra Ivy has created for her Sentinels series. It is a fantastic world, full of adventure, intrigue and great characters that I am looking forward to revisit.

Since it had been almost exactly an year since I read Born in Blood, I had a bit of a hard time remembering it's story and the world's particulars. I did glimpse at the previous book, but Blood Assassin did a pretty good job in getting me situated and back into the thick of things.

Disclaimer: I got this book from the public library and have received no compensation from the author or publisher for this honest review.

I enjoyed this one much more than the first. After meeting these two in the first book I knew their story would be good. Surprisingly, I was more drawn to the mystery behind the child's kidnapping and her rescue. I look forward to learning even more about Wolfe and Lana, who both had a larger part in this book. ...more

Like Alexandra's GOE series the first book proved to be really different from the second book in the series. Yet again I went in to a book thinking I knew what to expect and I was really surprised with what I found. I am truly enjoying these though, I spent most of the book shaking my head and wondering what I was going to find on the next page, it's a fascinating world and I am loving all the little revelations that are occurring. The world building was immense although she refrained f

This was a good continuation of The Sentinels series. It had some really great parts that had me on the edge of my seat, but then it slowed a bit too much for me. I liked getting to know Fane and Serra in this book. I wasn't sure if I was on board with these two being together, but by the end I was happy with these two. ...more
