What Members Thought
There's not too much I can say about this without revealing spoilers. However, McGuire mentions in the preface that this is the book she first thought out when coming up with the series and then she went back and wrote the previous 7 books. Reading book 8, I could see many events, big and small, from those first books coming together to form the bigger picture.
