This is one of my least favorite of the Alpha and Omega series so far (in the Mercy Thompson World/Universe). Anna's birthday is coming up, so Charles plans to get her a surprise. It turns out Charles is old friends with Joseph who just happens to own an Arabian horse farm. Off to Arizona they go- for pleasure and not a job. But, you know it's Charles, so of course something has to happen!

Great book, the only thing that kept it from 5 stars is there was too much time devoted to the horse world.
Anna and Charles can't go on a simple trip without running into trouble. In this case they find a fae is causing havoc and children are at risk. They eventually solve the case. The best part is watching their relationship grow.

This serious is by far one of my favorites if not my all time favorite series. Patricia Briggs just knows how to write a story that I found so enchanting. I have loved reading about Anna and Charles journey for years now. This book is a wonderful read and is just beautiful to have on a shelf. Being completely honest this book isn't my favorite in the series, but I still enjoyed reading it.

Quick summary. Charles has a friend! Horses. Evil fae on the loose! Horses. Anna and Charles channel Nancy Drew! Horses.
Really, lots of horses. After the end of the last book, I was expecting more fae hijinks than I got. The mystery with the fae was alright but the highlight was really the character development and interactions. Charles and Anna visit his old friend Joseph and it was fun to see some reminiscing of old times and a glimpse at a Charles beyond his enforcer persona.
