It is a sad day. To see the end of a beloved series. But it's also a happy day when you see the author has done the series and the characters justice. And that's how I feel about this book. I was so excited to actually read it! And while I was reading it, as much as I was enjoying it I didn't want it to end.

The 3 star is really an average of things I loved and things I hated about this book (and honestly the series in general). The stuff I loved, I really loved it. The stuff that bugged me made me want to toss the book (it was from the library so I didn't).

What I liked: As always the world is fabulous. I do really love this world and the different races in it. What I liked: As always the world is fabulous. I do really love this world and the different races in it. Jenks was his usual self and though I was disappointed we didn't see more Bis I did like that the focus was back on Rachel, Ivy & Jenks working together. Truthfully, I'll always love Kisten but I'm OK with Trent as the hero now and I think he's grown and changed probably the most of anyone in the series. When the focus was on the plot and the action and our team working together, I really loved it.

What I didn't like: The return of emo-Rachel. OMG, every page was full of whining about how people wouldn't be in danger, or would be in charge, or somehow would be better off if it wasn't for her. First of all, ego much? Secondly, these are all grown people Ivy, Trent, hell even Al, have been making their own decisions for a while now. Stop making excuses for them when they treat you badly and stop thinking that they'd all be better off without you. Rachel seemed to grow out of this attitude in Pale Demon (probably why it's my favorite book in the series) but it crept back in with Ever After and really resurfaced here. Moments of self-doubt are necessary in a main character or else they come off cartoonish. Self-doubt on nearly every page is just too much for me.

So, overall, even though I have my issues with Rachel that cause my personal enjoyment of each installment to go up and down I did enjoy this series. I'd totally recommend it to people wanting a good UF series that has a really good mix of dark & light. No one gets away without being hurt in some way but it's not unrelentingly dark either. ...more

This was a huge finale. So much going on. The gang is all present and accounted for except for Belle. She's mentioned, but has no "screen" time.
My main issue was with Rachel. She's less angsty in this one, but still believed she was not good enough for Trent. Oh please, just stop it. I wanted to smack her. (Can I? Please?!) I felt it took her to the end of the book to wake up. Ignore that flaw, and it's a good finale. ...more
