I enjoyed this new world, though still in Melbourne, and got a laugh about using Brooklyn (not a real suburb of Melb) as the dark, bad, scary place even the cops don't go into.
As others have said this has a very 'rileysque' feel to it, including all the sex and badass powers. Though different, in that Emberly is a Phoenix and not a half vamp/were.

I really enjoyed this first book in Keri's new series. This is the first book I have read that the main character is a pheonix. It is different and refreshing! Emberly is amazing and relatable. Rory and Jackson a pretty great as well. People and place were easily visualized and the storyline was great. I am really looking forward to the second book in the series. It cannot come out soon enough!
