OMG - I did not think the day would come when I have a DNF on a Nora Roberts book !!!!!!!!!!

How the hell did this happen???????? Maybe because the heroine Iona was the most annoying lead that I have ever, ever read & that is saying a lot. I wished & hoped that Branna really would have smacked her as every other start to a sentence began with " I'm sorry...". I hated Iona, I could not connect with her. She was just too immature, too needy, TSTL, she had no filters, any thought just came out. But

I think I liked the whole overall story more than the actual romance. I didn't really get Iona & Boyle's connection. It seemed to go where ever the plot needed it to go. But still, I really liked the mythology and the group as a whole. Don't get me wrong I did like both Iona & Boyle, it's just that the connection between family and friends felt more real and emotional to me than their romance did. This is my first Nora Roberts book I've read - because I'm not one to read books where romance is the main stage of the plot. This was a nice mix. Although I did feel like it was k

Very disappointed. The introductory chapter was great but the rest of the book was difficult to finish, just couldn't hold my interest and I am a fan of Nora Roberts. ...more

All of Robert's paranormal trilogies are pretty formulaic, but it is a good formula which leads to an enjoyable book.

What I enjoyed:
* Iona was an interesting character who just jumped into life and anything that interested her
* The animal companions and horses in general
* The description of Ireland, I so want to visit after reading this
* The prologue story of Sorcha

What could have been better:
* Very formulaic - I knew who would be couples and what book they would be featured in after meeting the
