Like some others, I think I preferred the early books in the series that were more police procedural with a paranormal setting. The last two, Kara is no longer with the police and they are almost totally either on the demon world or dealing with demon shenanigans. I don't necessarily mind that, I love the October Daye series and that's done much the same thing (only substitute fae for demons) but I find it's not working for me quite as well here.
