Diane ~Firefly~
Warning - for the very beginning (view spoiler)

I wanna be an innkeeper!!!! What a novel idea. And I really want to be an innkeeper - and have a Shih Tzu Chi. And if you want to throw in a sexy werewolf as well, I wouldn't complain.

It was very refreshing to read about supernatural creatures we've never seen or that have a very different origins. Dina is very relate-able and has an interesting back story with some mystery to be revealed in

When I start a new series from authors I love, there is always that moment of doubt that they won't be able to live up to their past books/series. With Ilona and Andrew Gordon, I really shouldn't be worried. They have the ability to:

1. Create the most likable characters including a lot of morally ambiguous ones which make me question myself since I tend to love them so much:
"If he ever becomes an issue, I could eat him. He looks delicious."

2. Amaze me with their creative magical worlds. There ar

Dina is an Inn Keeper. She and her Inn are not what you'd expect at your usual Bed and Breakfast.

Sean lives nearby. When several dogs in the neighborhood are killed in a very gruesome way, Dina asks Sean what he's going to do about it.

Great inventive and imaginative story. I enjoyed the story and will be quickly reading the other books in the series!

Watch for some tongue in cheek references - loved 'em.

There's little more for me to say in praise of ilona Andrews, I believe I have said it all.
But I really like this book particularily because she does turn the usual cliche of the main character being dropped into a new world n its head, and makes her the one that knows what's going on. Putting Sean there as our guide and making him as clueless as we are is a brilliant move.
Funny, fast paced, and with interesting, multi dimensional characters that are quick and brave. A great book. if only, too
