Awesome! I don't know how Ilona and Gordon come up with these ideas but I loved the mix of PNR with Sci-Fi. It totally made sense to me that all these PNR creatures could be aliens instead!

Really liked all the characters. I smelled a love triangle a mile away and my first thought was 'Et tu, Ilona?' But I should have realized that I&G were going to have lots of fun with the concept. I laughed histerically at the vampires's last dig at Sean but I recommend Dina to get hersel

Original and very imaginative! The authors have once again created a complex world, flawed, realistic and likable characters and an interesting plot.

Dina is a new Innkeeper with a mission to make her inn successful in the hope that someday one of her future clients will have news of her missing parents. Her fist serious problem as Innkeeper brings her in contact with some very interesting characters and forces her to test the limits of her power.

It was a very nice introduction to Dina's world an

Kate Daniels is a tough act to follow and it must be difficult as an author (authors) to come up with something just as good when you've come up with something just that good. But this book was really entertaining and very different. Of course, we had the vampire and the alpha werewolf, but the twist of them all coming from different parts of the universe added something to this story which I haven't come across before. I loved the magic of the inn and Dina herself, although without the wonderfu ...more

This is another Ilona Andrews joint, so of course I loved it! I do think the story offers plenty for new readers and stands on its own as a series.

Clean Sweep is a mashup of science fiction, urban fantasy, and high fantasy. It takes the typical tropes of each genre and turns them on their nose. Don't be put off by the kind of boring "Innkeeper" job; this story is fun and exciting throughout.

Combining magic, aliens, sentient buildings, vampires, werewolves, creepy critters, time travelers, and ev

Just my notes

The people in the pictures are way too young for their alleged age. The woman in her 60's looks 25. The 27-year-old looks like he's 16.

It's so great how they show not tell, giving us little snippets as we go. There's a big tell sequence late in the book but it works okay and by then I was very invested and it didn't matter.

The Darth Vader GPS is awesome. I want one.

An English punctuation mark being the universal sign for distress is silly.

This is much lighter and more whimsical

I've neglected reading this book, and the series, because, well, it's about a woman with a glowing broom. Who runs an inn, for god's sake. How could that ever compete with Kate Andrews and her sharp blade?

I had conveniently forgotten about the awesome talent that resides in the writing team that is Ilona Andrews. I allowed myself to prejudge this book as unworthy simply because of my false assumption that a book about an innkeeper's gotta be boring as hell.

Mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa.

I absolutely loved this setting. Werewolves and vampires as alien creatures, a magical house, and the innkeepers as a neutral Swiss territory for all creatures. I thought Dina and Beast were spunky and fun, and two hot-headed heroes as potential love interests are always enjoyable. I liked the tongue-in-cheek meta reference at the end about love triangles too. Hilarious.

One of my favorite aspects was the glimpses into other planets and places. I loved the visit to the marketplace and the snapsh

Wow that was unexpected, fantasy mixed with sci fi of aliens and tech. Similar to other Ilona Andrews books with alpha males and lots of military nerding-out, but also a kickass MC and a compelling story.
