2010: A great volume in this series, but do start with volume 1.
2024: Rereading the series. Rhenn has issues as Patrol Captain that escalates when Imageisle is attacked and he becomes the second in command. Will he end up dead wor will he succeed in solving all the problems confronting him? Interesting how Modessitt, Jr. starts this series in the present time (for this world) and then fills in the back story as he continues to write.
