The Monsters of Templeton is chock full of information and characters, and while I sometimes got lost in all of it, it was worth the effort of wading through it.
The historical flashbacks in this story really appealed to me. I particularly appreciated the interectedness of the characters from the past with their modern day contemporaries. The first bookclub read for the ALISS adult bookclub... great pick guys! (though unfortunately I can't make it to the meeting).
I enjoyed the writing style, the creative narration, the mystery story, the history intertwined with fiction... really, everything. I found the parts about the best friend with lupus a bit hard to read (in fact, I skipped most of those pararaphs) because my mom has lupus. But other than that, I absolutely loved this book. ...more
