The Handmaid's Tale is why I kept my name when I got married. (OK, not the whole reason, but the comment in the faux historian introduction that it was difficult to track individual women during this period because they changed names so often.) I occasionally feel twinges of paranoia about how much of my money is online too, because taking electronic assets was how the anti-women group took over. And given this year's political cycle, it's seeming less far fetched than it did in the 90s.
