This review is a little harsher than others. I loved the plot of this story. However, the main character, Dante just annoyed the heck out of me. I had quite a bit of trouble at the beginning of this book. Although, I have to say that the author had me page turning by the end of the book. Lucien character is unlike and character that I have encountered in my book before. Dante is my typical handsome man, but I found myself still able to understand the connection between characters in this book. I was let down by the ending, and now wondering there are more books in the series. I can not accept that it would just end so abruptly.

When I first read the synopsis, truthfully I felt rather iffy on it. Vampires and FBI agents? I really didn't know what to expect. I'm certainly glad I stuck with it and read it! It was fantabulous. Talk about a full throttle ride of adrenaline. From the very get go I was immediately drawn in, when another body has been added to the victim list of the CCK. The killer's patterns have changed, his MO different, but that doesn't throw Special Agent Heather Wallace off. She's certain that the CCK is still at large and has a gut feeling that it's some how connected with Club Hell right next door.

Dante, the leader singer for Inferno, and rumored owner of Club Hell is as smoldering hot as his name implies. Gorgeous, pale, talented, and oh ya. He's a vampire. I was at first conflicted with Dante's character. Pigheaded, stubborn, and does the complete opposite of what you tell him to. He's infuriating but his good looks and large heart certainly make up for it. Dante does the whole goth/emo sex god thing, and he rocks it. Frankly I usually hate guyliner. For some reason with Dante, I don't mind. :P While Dante is totally infuriating, he is the most loyal and protective person. He fiercely protects his friends and those close to his heart. His screw the world attitude doesn't hide his compassion however. He never thinks of himself, only his friends. It's a trait that I greatly admire.

I liked how the POV's changed and the reader got a glimpse of everyone's thoughts. It was a nice touch to get inside the CCK's head and other "darker" characters. I loved how the story really focused on following the CCK and didn't turn into a total "goo-goo eyed" Dante is so hawt plotline. Adrian stayed true to the story and I really appreciate that. It had the potential to go off with too many sex scenes and could have lost the story, but it DIDN'T! It was the perfect balance. I absolutely loved the story, and I thought the romance was just right. Though at times I was craving more!

When I finished I think my reaction was something similar: "OMG! THAT'S IT?! I WANT THE SECOND ONE!" Though at first I was a tad disappointed with the ending, looking back I realize it was for the best. Heather truly cares for Dante, but she realizes she needs to step back and look at her life rationally. So many things have changed for her, that throwing herself into a relationship that she doesn't fully understand the implications of, isn't the wisest choice. I respect Heather for her decision and I eagerly await the sequel! I just need to get my claws on it!!! Absolutely wonderful read! ...more

If I could say one statement about A Rush of Wings is would be: "There is something for everybody." Many of us who read within the UF and PNR genre love to have more. and A Rush of Wings is just that.

There is suspense as a serial killer is on the loose, the Cross Country Killer. Adrian treats her readers to the inside working of the CCK's mind- not my most favorite (seems quite real and I prefer fantasy) but very thorough.

A Rush of Wings is the First installment in the Marker's Song series by Adrian Phoenix.
I'm late to reviewing this book. I read it a while back, but re-read it just last week for BBA. Both times in reading this book, I really enjoyed it. The characters are likable and interesting.

A Rush of Wings by Adrian Phoenix.
This book was in my monster to-read pile for some time now, so I decided to unearth it.
Thank goodness I didn’t let it collect anymore dust! This is a fabulous book. Not very often do I EVER give a book 5 stars, but this novel deserves all 5 shiny gold ones. It also prompted me to contact the author and do an interview, which I will be posting soon.

I have really mixed feelings about this book.There were things that i really liked and other that really ruined it for me.

First of all this book is quite well written.I mean with so many points of view and narrators for a story not to become a complete mess is quite an accomplish.But still,i kind of lost my track of the story way too many times and that's something i don't like in any book.Especially at the beggining i was constantly thinking "what's going on here???" and although as the story p I have really mixed feelings about this book.There were things that i really liked and other that really ruined it for me.

First of all this book is quite well written.I mean with so many points of view and narrators for a story not to become a complete mess is quite an accomplish.But still,i kind of lost my track of the story way too many times and that's something i don't like in any book.Especially at the beggining i was constantly thinking "what's going on here???" and although as the story progressed i was left with less questionmarks, up untill the end there were points i was feeling completely lost.But as i said,with so many narrators in a story that's quite understandable and once more i'd like to state that i don't like my books being written from many points of view,it's just not my favourite thing so i might be a little prejudiced towards this fact.

I also liked every single character in this book.I may not like so many narrators but one thing is for sure.If the writer is skilled,then the many points of view help him/her illuminate every aspect of the books' characters.I liked the psychological insight of Dante and E most of all.It was consistent with their story and all those details helped the story to progress more smoothly.

Another think i liked,was the fact that this story is quite original.It's more of a detective-mystery story with some paranormal elements thrown in,something i haven't come across in any book i have read.Vampires and paranormal elements are not a hidden society,nor a fact that many know.They just exist,in plain sight and it's up to you to believe in them or not.

Heather also,is a fabulous character,just the right heroine for this kind of story.She's strong,independent,smart, with empathy,all characteristics that made her the right person to pursue a serial killer trough all this unatural circumstances.Dante,was sexy as hell!!!His troubled past ant the way he dealt with his problems made him even more appealing.And although the romantic element in this book wasn't too strong,the romantic scene between them was among the best i've ever read.It had the right amount of sexiness and tenderness most authors fail to attribute to their sex scenes.

But,although i was totally hooked in the middle of the book,in the last pages i was quite tired.I was tired of the conspiracies and the murder attempts and i just felt that the end should have come about 30 or 50 pages earlier.But maybe that's just me.

To sum it up,it's a book worth reading,due to it's original story and well written scenes but not a book that i was mad about it.I suppose i will read sometime the next books in the series mostly because of the wonderful main characters Phoenix has created.

Hmm... Well... Er... Yeah, I guess I should start now.

Ahem. I began this book with high expectations because of all the good things I've heard about it, and the first part EXACTLY lived up them, and then some. But all of the 'E' and 'S' stuff just started to get on my nerves, as well as all the weird, unpronouncable Irish words.

This having been said, Dante is freakin' awesome. But sometimes a bit monotonous. Mhm. And I still love 'im.
