I found this book to be an intriguing look at a turning point in American history, from a very different viewpoint. Curzon is an escaped slave who gets caught up in the events of the American Revolution, and dragged through both the practical and moral quandaries of the times. In his case, one of the key ones is the issue of freedom vs. slavery, since it was actually the British government who came down slightly on the side of freedom.
