The gimmick of a modern Nathan Hale writing about the historical Nathan Hale seems like an obvious idea, especially when the modern one was born at the Bicentennial.
The strength of this volume is that it takes a complex period of history and makes it simple and accessible. The weakness of it is that it is sometimes flippant, sometimes fictionalized and overall a bit strange.
