This was an incredible read! As someone who spent her 20’s fully invested in my church at the time it’s so easy to understand Joy’s story and how she becomes a victim of the people she calls her spiritual family. In Dinner with Vampires, Joy explains how a small bible study upturned her life, all while filming One Tree Hill. I read this one so fast because I had to see how Joy found a way out! Not a great start to my reading year 🫢
My Book of the Month pick for November because I’m a sucker for a cult story. Like how does this happen to someone? Apparently, rather easily.
Side note, I’ve never seen an episode of One Tree Hill but I absolutely remember Joie Lenz from Guiding Light because her character was hooking up with one of my high school crushes Danny Santos 🥰
