i've seen a few complaints that this book is too wordy, that nothing really happens, it's slow and readers were bored.
I hate these sorts of complaints because what it means is people don't have the time or the brains anymore to decipher the beauty of the language that is, in fact, telling a beautiful, distinct and compelling story. With appropriate words.
I love words. And so, too, does Colson Whitehead. This novel proves why his use of words has earned him a Nobel Prize.
