Adorable, light and cute. This is the perfect, witchy Halloween read.
This is a well contained story - all in one - with no cliffhanger. I love that both the mystery and the love story were contained in one book and didn't leave me with a cliffhanger or needing book 2 for a conclusion. The banter was perfect, light and funny. I thought the main character, the family, and the love interest were all well done. They added to the story and didn't frustrate or confuse me.

I feel like this would have been a better movie than book.
Three and a half stars. This was a light and fun romance with a magic subplot. I think this book runs into the same trap other Rachel Hawkins/Erin Sterling books do - they start off strong but run into pacing issues about halfway into the book.
I flew through the first half but hit a wall that was difficult to overcome. Life is too short and my TBR too long to slog through books I'm not enjoying. Thankfully the pace picked back up towards the end.

While this is predictable with cliched characters, it’s also fun and festive and a perfect escape novel for the Halloween season! I loved the world building and the super adorable town setting, which is so reminiscent of Stars Hollow that I added half a star for that alone.

DNF, but that’s more on me than the book. I thought the romance element may overshadow the magic element based on some reviews I had read and heard but unfortunately supernatural continues to not be my thing.
That said, if you like books about romance and magic I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.

If you’re looking for an easy, no stakes, witchy romance, then this might be perfect for you, but it just wasn’t for me. I felt like there was no sense if urgency when it came to the plot and then it was wrapped up pretty quickly and easily.
