I'm not sure why this was a miss for me, but I never found myself pulled into this story. Maybe this was due to me flipping to audio to keep going while I did chores but I was surprised by how much religion was in the story and the few times there was violence against the animals. Both were shocking, as the rape, and I really struggled to get over all those moments.

Beautiful lyrical book on grief and the healing power of love. I found it a slow read at times but overall, a beautiful book.

Shelves: realistic-fiction, drama, thriller, 2021

This is a very emotional book! There were a few parts written so well my heart strings were so tight they were ready to break! Well worth reading. Excited to read more by this author.
