I never watched One Tree Hill and other than Bethany Joy Lenz looking vaguely familiar, I knew nothing of her personal or professional life. However, the buzz surrounding this memoir drew me in and I wasn't disappointed. Religious cults have always fascinated me, and I appreciated that Bethany delved deeply into the group’s backstory, explaining how she became a part of The Big House Family and the sense of connection and belonging it offered her at first. 4.25⭐️ I love One Tree Hill (still rewatching them occasionally) and definitely love Haley/Nathan more than Lucas/everyone 😂 and never heard about Bethany Joy Lenz being in a cult. Joy’s story is really eye opening on how a cult operates and how these snakes can get deep in people’s lives. This is also a very frustrating story to read as a Christian, to see how God is being used by people to benefit themselves.
