Such a surprise! My book club doesn't read a lot of fantasy/magic based stories. We tend to read a lot of thriller/mystery reads but I'm so glad we decided to give this one a try.
It starts a bit slow. It takes a minute to intro the characters and the magic of the world. But with one quick motion, the story is off and running. I will never get over this incredible book about sisters, books, magic — and pets!
It was breathtaking, suspenseful, and so very clever! A great read that may have turned me on to the world of fantasy!

Seems like a good story, just not my cup of tea.
This one has a slow and confusing start. But if you can get through the slow chapters and just go with it then it does pick up and you start to understand what's going on. I loved the world building and absolutely didn't want the story to end. I'm hoping for a sequel!

This is not a book I would have picked up myself but the book club group wanted to read this one so I grabbed it and started reading. This was an interesting tale about books and magic. I was hooked from the beginning and the writing had me picturing everything as I moved along in the story.
