Set in the backdrop of a small town, the mc returns home to help an ailing friend. I liked the mystery of it all. I like the extra drama of a broken friendship and the small town feel. The timeline flips back and forth, from adulthood and present day to previous teenage years. There was a murder in the small town and it was never solved. This book was....fine. I actually really enjoyed the story, and the ending was very satisfying (and is what tipped it to a 3 star rating for me). But the pace was soooooo slow, and I don't usually kind a slow burn. I would have loved to hear some clips from the podcast that motivated Juniper to come home in the first place, but no luck.

If you like super slow l, character driven books, I say give this book a try.
