David Sedaris KILLS ME EVERYTIME! I listened to this as an audio book and trust me, that made the book! Having him sit there and tell me a series of short stories about his life, family, and career were the recipe for a great time. David has a wonderful way of sharing a story of a difficult topic and then making me laugh out loud immediately after. I will say, this book was a little darker than his other books but it was still wonderful none the less!
I enjoy his little essays, yet feel strange to be a 30 yr old man connecting so well with a man beginning his 60s. My first Sedaris book. I’ve been told for a decade I’d love him, but with the added inflection that implied he wasn’t very good of a writer. Perhaps he isn’t, but I liked this book.
I’ve loved David Sedaris since I heard Santaland Diaries the first time, but this is the first time I’ve read a whole book. Really amazing story telling and the I found myself reading so much of it aloud to my husband to make him laugh. I never had to ask him why he wasn’t laughing. He’s amazing.
Thank you, David Sedaris, for making me laugh out loud! I was a little grossed out by the cyst, though. Enjoyed reliving my memories of Emerald Isle, too. A fun read.
