What Members Thought
A meticulously researched, detailed story of Empress Catherine of Russia in the mid 1700's until her death in 1796. This book is not "historical fiction", she does not "speak" per se. You hear her voice in the letters she wrote.
At times, when the story wove the picture of the wars, the conquering of lands and the alliances between countries and monarchs, my head would spin with geography lessons...and I would have scored a C- if tested!

A bit lengthy and sometimes overwhelmingly detailed but overall a terrific story and for me history lesson. Rich. Really loved it.
