Life is about making hard choices and making sure that you do whatever it takes to see them through to the best of your ability.

This is a wonderful story that takes the fantasy of a mermaid and weaves it seamlessly into a realistic life-story. The challenges facing Tamrind to make her journey possible consisted of family, friends and love that all worked against her. Once she overcame all of those issues through persistence and patience, she then had to learn to deal with the real world.

Shelves: mermaid-selkie-siren, urban-fantasy

While it did start out a little slow for me, in the end I really enjoyed this book. I fell in love with the characters and their own stories, even if at times it felt as though there was a lot going on at once. I really enjoyed the normalcy; how even though there was a mythical/magical quality with the mermaid and "sea hag" that the world created felt real and believable. It was an interesting take on the after of what would be a classic fairy tale in a modern setting. ...more
