One of the weirdest books I've read. Didn't hate it but struggled the whole way through. So so warped. At this stage have only ever read one other J G. Ballard book, High Rise, and preferred that much more.

While I love transgressive fiction, the story was so monotonous to the point where you got used to all the transgressions thrown at you. Nothing surprised you anymore. One car accident blends into another and another. All this excess detail on every move, every crash, every orgasm - it becomes boring.
I mean, I'm not bothered by excess detail, but when I read this, I asked myself - where is this leading to? You get the entire story in the first chapter as the protag recants his experience. Then ...more
