This book is a sausage made out of roadkill...and glass shards. And forced similes and metaphors strewn about the highway, ugly as a car wreck.

So much semen is spurted and wiped on the dashboard instrument panels that I ceased after awhile to wonder or care how our motorists could even read the dials.

Lots of other people who are a lot better than me have written all kinds of things about this novel. I will say this: The first hundred pages of the novel are relatively un-engaging. It's almost entirely narrative voice with almost zero dialogue interaction between characters. This was especially difficult for me because that's my favorite part of any book--watching how the characters interact with each other. I found this book repetitive, boring and even disgusting at some points and I am really sad cause I expected it would have made a great read. Maybe this was the author's intention? Crash is a story about characters who “suffer” from symphorophilia, specifically car-crash sexual fetishism. In english that means the protagonists become sexually aroused by staging and participating in real car-crashes.

meh. while this is a short novel, it should've been shorter, something like an 80 page novella. this was 4 star for me for the first half, and then it just boring and old fast, too much of the same thing over and over. ...more
