This was a fun retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I really enjoyed Belle’s character, she was very likable. I also really enjoyed her family and her two older sisters. I like the side story of April and Dominic, I do wish something more would have happened with Celeste. The ending came up too quickly and I thought it was all wrapped up a too fast. I would have enjoyed more time and interaction between Belle and the Beast. It was very well written though and had a great fairytale feel throughout ...more

Not the best retelling I've read about Beauty and the Beast, which is my favorite fairy tale ever! The book tells more about her life at home with her father, and barely a few chapters about her life in the castle with the Beast. Infact, I don't even remember any nice scenes with the Beast at all. Still, a good read since it was a pretty short story and could be read in about a few hours, which I did. I would recommend Beauty by Robin McKinley as the best B&B story, or for even better imaginatio ...more

Since I'm a Beauty and the Beast geek (you don't write your Honors thesis about B&B without being a geek) and I like Cameron Dokey, of course I was dying to read this. I enjoyed it quite a bit. She changed the emphasis from the Beast's transformation more to Belle's transformation, which I thought was an interesting way to go. Plus, she didn't steal my ideas for my own retelling of B&B (which was actually quite a relief!).

I really liked this book. It is a good lesson on realizing what is important. And, it's a great book for kids. Actually, I think any book by Cameron Dokey is great for younger readers. ...more
