Natalie lives in a small town in Garrett County, Maryland. She has Juvenile Glaucoma and has been gradually losing her sight since the age of eight. I couldn't help but think of the nut job I know, the one about whom I posted in this post. She was from Garrett County, too. And she always thought she was going to lose her eyesight. Natalie has glaucoma and is slowly losing her eyesight. So instead of attending her sophomore year at the local high school, she's headed to the Maryland School for the Blind in Baltimore. Angry, frustrated, and scared, she slowly comes to terms with losing her sight.

Natalie is slowly losing her vision, and she is forced to attend a special high school for the blind. She is resistant to learn braile and use a cane because that would be admitting that she could potentially go blind.

I've never truly put myself in the shoes of a person who is blind. The author of the book did a lot of research, and there are so many small frustrations that I would never even consider. I learned a lot from this book.
