This book took me forever to finish. It wasn't unputdownable or engrossing, but it was good. It was as dark and violent a follow up to DoSaB as there could have been, and a really painful story of a war with no purpose. Maybe that's why it was hard for me to get through. Karou, mad at Akiva, does what she was mad at him for doing and falls into continuing a war whose only goal is death. Akiva is sad and wants to take it all back. I really hope that the third book in the series comes out soon, and not so much because I can't wait to see what happens. I spent the first 1/3 of this book trying to remember all the details of what happened in the first one. It had been about a year since I read it and I read books fast. I also read a lot of books, so within a year, details from books can get blurry. I quit reading Insurgent, the second Divergent book, because I just couldn't remember all the details - characters, plot nuances

Can I please give this book 6 stars, or maybe 7 or 8.....

After the Chimera are devastated by the Angels, Karou becomes the resurrection of the Chimera working to build an Army of Chimera to take revenge on the Angels. She also has to work through the betrayal of her first love. Cannot wait for the conclusion to this trilogy.
Darker. Muuuuuch darker. And so heart-wrenching. For 3/4 of the book Karou and Akiva are split, literally and from viewpoints. Aaarrgghh! Frustration as it takes Karou FOR-EV-ER to realize that she is being used and to get herself back. OY.
Loved this one. Taylor's best work to date.
