The Silence of Our Friends tells the story of a black family and a white family whose lives are touched by the TSU protest--a nonviolent protest that quickly turned into a riot when armed police showed up and began shooting. I really enjoyed the story and I found the artwork to be beautiful and perfectly suited to the subject matter. That said, this book didn't feel fully fleshed out to me. Based on an actual events that occurred in Houston in the late 60s, this important and poignant graphic novel leaves a lasting impact. The black and white artwork perfectly captures the grim mood.
