I usually like anything published by First Second. This is a well done Civil Rights era memoir. The author was a child in late 60's TX, when his dad was a TV reporter covering Civil Rights issues.

The story was a little confusing in the beginning but became clearer as the story progressed. The reality of the language and the events that are still relatively fresh makes this one better used at the high school.

Based on an actual events that occurred in Houston in the late 60s, this important and poignant graphic novel leaves a lasting impact. The black and white artwork perfectly captures the grim mood.
