Every generation of Katie's family has a secret. There are secrets about who they loved, how they loves, and at times when they didn't love enough. Katie and her mother have always been very capable of hiding their secrets until Katie's grandmother is forced to move in with them and truths begin to surface.

Insightful presentation of both caring for someone with Alzheimer's and actually suffering from it yourself, and a sensitive coming-out story. But this is billed as a book about three women, and the middle third is sorely underrepresented. The chances we got to understand all that Caroline had been through and all she was currently going through were marred by her inability to deal with it appropriately. Katie's dealing with her parent's seperation and understanding her own sexuality. If that wasn't enough her long-lost grandmother reapears in her life after turning up with dementia. This book is all about family secrets and how there are two sides to every story. I can see a lot of potential in the author's writing. But it was a little slow to start for me, and wrapped up a little too nicely. ...more
