It's been a long long long long time since I turned off the TV and blocked out the world to finish a book. Since I felt like Dime described, wanting to reach in the ink and grab the character's hand and be there with her. This book made me hold my breath and race towards the end. It's awful to read and captivating. It sounds like an outrageous fantasy but at the same time you know it's real. It just felt... real. Dime didn't see a choice. "Daddy" saved her. He assures her she is smart and beautiful and his favorite. Until after a trip south when Dime sees clearly what daddy's real feelings are. When Lollipop joins the "family" things get complicated and Dime has a mission.
I finished this book in two sittings. It was a little rough to start but once I got the pacing I couldn't put it down. If you liked Ellen Hopkins Tricks you will love this! More depth, more breadth and minimal graphic detail. ...more
