This book flew with me to Seoul and then back to Manila again, I couldn't put it down. SCRATCH THAT. I actually put it down a number of times because I had to let everything sink in. The author did a brilliant job, telling a coming-of-age story in Nazi Germany coupled with literature, music, war, death, grief, family. Something I'll find myself rereading in the future, and recommending to other readers.

This was a FANTASTIC book. It took me about 100 or so pages to get into it, but once I did I was hooked.
If you are a person looking for a quick read, then this book is not one for you. The author writes and amazing story of love and loss in WWII Nazi Germany from the view of Death itself.
I laughed and cried with this book. I would recommend it anyone that enjoys an awesome read, especially one that deals with the WWII era.

Oh my gosh, I just finished this book. I abandoned it twice, mainly because I could not invest time in it. If you are looking for fast read, look elsewhere. I finally muscled through by listening to the audio version in the car. It is lathered in similes. In fact, Zusak has a knack for using figurative language throughout the novel. Death made a great narrator. While this book is YA, I consider adults would appreciate the story too.
awesome, beautiful, sad, amazing writing. Probably the best book I've read in a long time. Really glad that it's so popular and that the movie (which looks great) is coming out soon. It's one of those books that's simply too good. Read it.
