It's well after midnight, my eyes misty with sleep and tears. I'm happy and sad and a better person after having read this book. Truly a classic that we can all learn from. Highly recommended for young adults and adults.

This book was narrated by Death. If that wasn't depressing enough, the story centered on the foul dictatorship of Hitler and the Holocaust. I don't know why anyone would market this book as a young adult novel; the topic was so dreary and definitely intended for more adult readers. Therewere Saumensch and Saukerl said in almost every chapter and the story almost bored me to tears. I certainly would not recommend it to a 12 year old, not even a 15 year old.
